lyrics

Daddy hasn’t been the same since the dildo factory shut down
Another dead letter man killing time in a burned out town
The furrows and the frown lines
Just a couple of the tell-tale signs
Of a puncture wound that ran this man aground

Daddy was a foreman
Who worked in fabrication
Never took vacation
Or ever got sick
Sequestered youthful visions
Great spirits and ambition
For steady checks from
Making rubber dicks

He worked the line for 20 years
Of swallowed pride and thoughtless jeers
Making sure his kin went clothed and fed
Only to be shown the door
His pension snatched by half or more
And nothing left but surplus shafts and heads

We fed a nation’s pleasure
And we banged out lust
This town went boom
And this town went bust
Now all that’s left is a skeletal silicone mill
With a pink tipped smokestack and no more holes to fill

This bullshit American nightmare
We’ve lived it ever since
Daddy wakes up screaming once a week
He’s walking around like a human bomb
There ain’t no love left between him and mom
Since he spied her going to town
On a toy from Viet Nam
He’s the fount of flaccid rage
The butt of middle age
A public suicide without the stage

Daddy hasn’t been the same since the dildo factory shut down
So I came of age in the shadow of my old man’s rage
Hey ma, look at me, selling pills in the back of Applebee’s
Sportin’ end-stage grizzle at the age of 33
Should’ve got out when I could
‘Cause I could’ve been good
Not a shimmied down chub where a wicked rod once stood
So I stumble through the valley of a cold, hard night
To an old motel where the bedbugs bite
Finding comfort in the company of grease trap rats
And Shitfaced Sally and her heartland gash
Old Crow whiskey and a Chinese dong
Oh tell me daddy, what went wrong?
